The Clovis West community has lost a legend whose voice and impact will never be forgotten.

Michael “Mike” Rumley, 79, passed away on March 20, 2026, surrounded by family.

Mike dedicated over 33 years to education, most of them at Clovis West High School, where he taught AP U.S. History, coached multiple sports, and led Academic Decathlon. He served as History Department Chair, directed History Day, and became the beloved “Voice of the Golden Eagles,” announcing our home football games for years.

Known for his passion, leadership, and connection with students, Mike left a lasting impact on generations of Golden Eagles.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis, his children, grandchildren, and the countless students and athletes whose lives he influenced.
