Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU)

Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) opened a full-service branch and ATM on the Clovis West High School campus on August 30, 2016. The branch is a partnership between EECU and Clovis Unified School District.

The EECU Clovis West Branch staff consists of two EECU employees and approximately 20-25 Clovis West High School students who are participating in the Career & Technical Education pathway in banking. This program provides the students with an opportunity to join the EECU team as a volunteer.

The student volunteers receive extensive training from EECU staff to prepare them to work in the branch as student financial services representatives.  In addition to gaining work experience, the students are also taking a personal banking class.  In this class, they are learning money management skills, budgeting, establishing a credit score, saving for retirement, and much more.  These skills will be helpful when the students begin their careers in banking/finance and they are also important for personal financial growth and independence.

During school hours the students work two-hour shifts in the branch.  They are divided into teams that rotate weekly working in the branch or attending classroom sessions.  In addition, the students sign up to work lunch periods and after-school shifts.   The students assist members with their financial needs by performing a variety of teller transactions and offering membership and loan information that will benefit EECU’s members.

In August of each year a new batch of 25+ students will be trained to work in the branch.

The branch is open to the public Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
