 Industrial Technology

Clovis West’s Industrial Technology department offers the following courses:

  • Auto 1 (Components and General Services)
  • Auto 2A (Automotive Electrical Systems)
  • Auto 2B (Auto Brake and Suspension Systems)
  • Auto 3A (Automotive Transmission and Power Train)
  • Auto 3B (Automotive Engines)

Auto students, under the direction of Auto teacher Bob Gatzman compete yearly in the SKILLS USA competition.  High school and community college students from twelve counties are judged according to their overall knowledge and performance in the area of automotive technology and automotive diagnostics, service and repair.  In 2015, Clovis West students placed as follows:

  • Placing second in the junior/senior team division were students Jaylen Benjamin, John Fairchild, Justin Blancarte and Will Ellanson
  • Placing second in the sophomore team division were students Brandon Ruiz, Jammie Greathouse, Kruzz Castillo and Chris Becerra
  • At the advanced level in the open class, Che Romero also earned a silver medal for placing second among a very competitive group of students
